2011 FARE Action Week

The National Roma Centrum, in cooperation with the FARE network this year as well joined the activities of the FARE Action Week “football against racism”, which lasted from the 12-15 October.

The activities NRC undertook for this action involved informing of primary and high schools in the city, informing the mayor and the media about the main event that was held on the 25th October 2011 at the square in Kumanovo.

Each school assigned a team of pupils who together with their teachers attended the central event. All teams were given t-shirts and footballs with the campaign title and fliers with information regarding anti-discrimination.

Within an hour and half the young people through various sports activities had an opportunity to send out a message to the public for getting closer through sports. This also showed the need for Kumanovo as a city to have a greater sports area and sports activities.

This event was successfully realized due to the attention it caused among the participants and the people at the square. NRC expresses a special gratitude that the youngsters showed that with friendship and sportsmanship the imposed barriers and limits are being torn down.

The teachers agreed that there is a need for organizing more of these actions with more massive participation and with this theme to achieve integration and co-life.
