The activity was realized within the frameworks of the project Legalization of Roma housing, which has been realized by the NRC with financial support from Open Society Foundation Macedonia, in partnership with Habitat Macedonia.

A training for field facilitators was organized on the 01.03.2012. Lecturers at the training were Katerina Sojic, a lawyer in NRC and Zoran Dimitrov from Habitat. Field facilitators: Almira Redzepi (Tetovo), Demirsa Osmanov (Stip), Serdzat Idic (Kocani), Ljatif Demirovski (Kumaovo). Ejup Asanovski (Prilep) and Eldza Saitovska and Daniel Petrovski from Suto Orizari were present at the training.

The participants were familiarized with the basic determinations from the Law on illegally built objects. During the training discussion was developed about concrete problems and cases with which the field facilitators faced during their work as poll takers during the first phase of the project Legalization of Roma housing. The attendees were also presented with the work methodology and were informed that their engagement will begin from the 07.03. with intensive field work.

During the training the facilitators examined the questionnaire and the necessary documentation which would be seen on the field. We concluded that it would be necessary for the documentation to be photocopied. The resource centre will gather the documents, scan them and attach them to the files of the requestors for the legalization. Zoran Dimitrov from Habitat presented to the attendees the conditions for crediting, the course of the procedure, the cooperation between partners and the necessary documents.

The aim of the project is to increase the percentage of legalized homes in Republic of Macedonia, with emphasis of Roma homes in 6 municipalities in RM: Skopje, Kumnovo, Kocani, Prilep, Tetovo and Stip, where the largest number of Roma population lives, through legal, administrative, financial and technical support for the process.
