Besides the rain the citizens of the Roma neighborhood in Kocani came in great numbers to point out the concrete problems and needs for adequate living conditions

Within the frameworks of the caravan “Housing is more then four walls and roof” the second civil meeting was held where a large number of Roma citizens appeared carrying the documents for their homes in hopes that with NRC’s team assistance and partner organizations can they urge for better living conditions.

This event is part of the NRC’s activities within the frameworks of the caravan “Housing is more then four walls and roof” in partnership with six other NGOs (“Avena” Kocani, “Pralipe” Kriva Palanka, “Bairska svetlina” Bitola, “Romska solza” Prilep, “Umbrella” Suto Orizari and “Public”). The project is being realized with support from the USAID project for civil society being conducted by the Open Society institute Macedonia as well as the Euorpean program for citizens of the European Commission. The action is being conducted in nine municipalities: Kapros, Suto Orizari, Kriva Palanka, Bitola, Kumanovo, Kocano, Prilep, Tetovo and Stip and through realization of a campaing for inciting a local level for humanization and urbanization of Roma settlements. The action for advocacy will require inclusion of citizens during change of public policies for adequate housing and urbanization.
