The new Director of the Direction for development and advancement of education for the languages of minorities, under the Ministry for education of Republic of Macedonia is Anka Demirova. This is the first director’s position for the Roma community. The director’s position mainly is a result of greater activity of the Roma political factor, and the Roma participation in the executive authority, as well as the new adopted laws which directly influence over the socio-economic life of the common citizen. The Direction for development, in this decade, is giving full support for the Roma educational issue in Macedonia. The Agency in the forthcoming period will be concentrated toward current problems regarding the education of the ethnic minorities in Macedonia, as well as motivation of the Roma community regarding education. Mrs. Anka Demirova by vocation is graduated lawyer, and her origin is from Delcevo. She was actively working on the field of legal issues of the Roma population, she is one of the first educators for women issues in Macedonia. Many international conferences and seminars in which she was involved are testifying for the experience of Mrs. Anka Demirova.
