On the debate, organized by the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association, it was discussed about the efficiency of the mechanisms for protection against discrimination in the Republic of Macedonia.

The representative from the National Roma Centrum, Oliver Mitov, was the introductory speaker, and as such he gave his review of the conclusions regarding the efficiency and the effectiveness of the mechanisms for prevention and protection against discrimination from the “Analysis of the mechanisms for prevention and protection against discrimination in the Republic of Macedonia”. He spoke in terms of the efficacy of the legal remedies and their effectiveness, the lack of sufficient capacity and sensibility in the institutions during the proceedings of the cases for prevention and protection against discrimination, and the need of raising public awareness about the mechanisms for prevention and protection against discrimination, especially when it comes to the Roma population.
The team of this project gave a review of the findings, the strategic advocacy, the conclusions and the recommendations from the “Analysis of the mechanisms for prevention and protection against discrimination in the Republic of Macedonia”, and afterwards discussed the future and the perspective of the current Law.
