In the frames of the project activities, the National Roma Centrum is working on a continuation and conducting of the proceedings for legalization and implementation of activities for advocacy which will contribute to an effective realization of the right for housing and implementation of the Law for treating the illegally built objects.

Goals of the project
General goal: Increasing the percentage of legalized houses in the Republic of Macedonia.
Specific goal: Legalization of houses in six municipalities: Skopje, Kumanovo, Kocani, Prilep, Tetovo and Stip, which have a larger number of Roma population, through financial and technical support for the process.
Description of the project:
In the frames of the project activities, the National Roma Centrum is working on a continuation and conducting of the proceedings for legalization and implementation of activities for advocacy which will contribute to an effective realization of the right for housing and implementation of the Law for treating the illegally built objects.
NRC’s activities in the project:
– Filling questionnaires by 7 researchers in 6 municipalities for 1.519 applicants of requests
– Organizing a development of a software for electronic records
– Resource center’s field analysis of 1.519 cases
– Free phone line for legalization
– Analysis for beginning and continuing of legalization proceedings
– Resource center’s conduct of proceedings and electronic records (engaging a lawyer when necessary)
– Advocacy – meetings with the Ministry for transport and communications, local governments, organizing meetings with authorities and subjects for a successful implementation of the Law.
