On behalf of the 8th FARE Week Against Racism, the National Roma Centrum in partnership with the FARE network organized a small football tournament in the Sports Hall in Kumanovo. This activity was held on the 27th October in the Week Against Racism which began on the 17th October and will last until the 30th.
On the event participants were teams from several elementary schools from Kumanovo and also there was game between the non governmental sector from Kumanovo and the members of the Council of the Municipality of Kumanovo. These players that were on the tournament joined other players, fan groups and even professional players world wide to contribute in the struggle against racism. The teams were made of Roma, Macedonian and Albanian pupils from the fifth to the eight grade. Before the official opening of the event there was a parade through the city with the banners against racism and the official motto of the event “Different players, same game”. Asmet Elezovski the manager of NRC officially opened the tournament, and the professional ex football player, the renowned Vujadin Stanojkovic closed the tournament with awards and diplomas for participation to the players.
