PROPOSAL CONCLUSIONS

 

 

  • The participants in the working session are asking complete implementation of the National Strategy of Education of Roma in Macedonia.
  • The participants are insisting the state institutions to provide instruments for strengthening of the educational process of the Roma, especially for more bigger coverage of the students. It was underlined the need of preparing of action plan in accordance with the Strategy for Roma and the Project for modernization in the education by the Bureau for Development of Education of R.M., the Administration for Development of Education of the Communities and Experts from the Roma community for increased coverage of Roma students.
  • The participants in the session from the authorized institutions request realization of projects and special programs in the field of education on all levels, financially supported by the state.
  • The present guests in the session underlined the need for implementing the Constitutional Law for education in mother language. Especially they are asking for initiating and strengthening of state instruments for adequate social protection of the Roma and special educational, social programs, with which the youngest Roma population will be provided with appropriate conditions for education.
  • The participants are stressing the need for promotion and realization of projects which will produce Roma educational cadres for the needs of the primary and secondary education of Roma, with special stress on starting of Romology studies at the University of St. Kiril and Metodij in Skopje.
  • The participants are expressing the need of inclusion of the history of the Roma in the History textbooks for the primary and secondary schools.
  • The present in the session are requesting from the state creating of appropriate instruments for adequate transfer of the authorities of the local self-government, with which the local self-government could provide conditions for complete social protection, for a complete coverage and education of the Roma in their environments, as well as realization of projects for education of adult Roma.
  • The participants in the session proposed activities for solving of the problem of personal documentation of Roma families, as one of the reasons for decreased presence in the schools.
