The BUVERO camp in Macedonia has been having variety of exciting and interesting events, tasks, and lectures during past couple of days.

 

In the second half of the third day of the BUVERO camp the working theme was dedicated to postmodern media structure WEB 2.0 and blogging, a topic that was particularly interesting because the participants had the opportunity to see and hear how they can be active in the world of media. The theme was covered by Galya Stoyanova, a photographer an aspiring documentary film director. The participants developed for the very first time idea for photo campaign and short video making.
The girls also had their first television interviews from K3 program, Macedonia, where they spoke about the program, their impressions and most over their expectations.
The evening guest of the camp was Bojana Kraljevska. She has Master studies at the Faculty of Audiovisual Arts ESRA – Skopje, Department of Production. The discussion was about several documentaries, their importance and the messages they send.

The fourth day of the BUVERO camp was dedicated to stereotypes. In the first half of the activities two sessions devoted to the display of the Roma in the media were held. The working day started with practical exercises through which participants had the opportunity to see stereotypical statements and news products. After lunch there was a practice through which for the first time girls will begin with practice in shooting and recording.

In the second part of the fourth day the Buvero participants had intensive practice with camera in 4 groups, where they all rolled and had the chance to try different roles during the shootings. After the practice they had lecture and discussion with Redzep ali Cupi the director of the Directorate for the Promotion and Development of the Languages in the Education of Ethnic Minorities in the Ministry of Education and Science, Republic of Macedonia. A lawyer by training, Ali Cupi has worked in many civil society led projects to support Roma inclusion.
The participants had the chance to discuss their future plans for higher education and very particular topics directly related to the education of the Roma society in the evening session they had a short lecture with their guest Ljatife Shikovska. Ljatife Shikovska is a Romani woman professional, completed university studies in physical education at the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, working as Director of NGO “Ambrela”-Shuto Orizari. A former professional football player, she now serves as a coach for the Open Fun Football School. She has extensive experience in working with and for grass-roots organizations, including the Youth Centre Nadež in Šuto Orizari.
