Art workshop with the students from primary and secondary schools from Kumanovo with aim for motivation and inspiring creation of creative artworks that will make influence about the reduction of stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination
National Roma Centrum on October 26th 2018 organized an Art workshop that is part of the Campaign DOSTA! Go beyond prejudice, meet the Roma” and celebration of the Day “Roma Pride”, activities of the campaign is supported by campaign DOSTA! program of the Council of Europe.
Campaign DOSTA! “Get over the Prejudices, Meet the Roma” and celebration of the Day “Roma Pride” is being implemented in cooperation with primary and secondary schools from Kumanovo. The art workshop was attended by 22 students with their mentor teachers from 11 schools from Kumanovo.
The art workshop was organized in order the students to express themselves through the whide spectrum of painting colors about stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination and how they influence the society. The workshop emphasized significant segments of Roma history, culture and tradition as an inspiration and motivation for making creative art works. During the workshop there were presented a concepts for developing an idea and how to sketch the creative artworks. Creative artworks will mainly be made in fine arts classes with additional instruction for work and supervision by the mentor teacher.
At the end of the workshop each student was given a painter’s canvas and acrylic paint with which he/she later should paint the creative work. The creative artworks that will be developed will be exhibited at the closing event ceremony and awarding certificates for participation in the Campaign DOSTA! “Get over the Prejudices, Meet the Roma” ” and celebration of the Day “Roma Pride”.
