Kumanovo, 30 September 2011 (MIA) – the National Roma Centrum from Kumanovo in cooperation with the state census commission, for two months has been on the field among the Roma population from the municipality, conducting and informative campaign and in other cities in Macedonia as well.

The purpose of this campaign is for the Roma population to be informed on time about the census.

– The census is a serious operation that offers a data base for the forthcoming decade, said Asmet Elezovski, manager of the NRC, adding that the census enables each citizen to freely express his/hers national belonging and for the Roma this will be an opportunity to get closer to the real number of this ethnic community in Macedonia.

NRC points out that part of the Roma population due to their socio-economic condition is on season work in Macedonia and the neighboring states as well. The campaign for mobilization of the citizens for more massive participation on the census in Macedonia, NRC evaluates as successful.
