Meeting Roma:
Stip on January 28, 2021

Within the project “Policies and practices for adequate housing” on 28.01.2020, the National Roma Centrum presented the research report prepared within the project. As a result of the general situation with Covid 19 in the country and the world, NRC has adjusted its activities in accordance with the situation and the measures of the Ministry of Health. These activities in the city of Stip are a continuation of the previous activities related to the right to legalization of Roma homes and non-Roma. Activities were carried out to inform the citizens about the current processes and rules and legal regulations for legalization, as well as the proposals for possible adoption of the new law on legalization. Information was disseminated through media, internet portals, social networks, meetings via internet connections and pamphlets were distributed and printed.

Policies when they are public and accessible to every citizen and especially to the ignorant and poorer layers of citizens in this case Roma without documents, homeless Roma give hope for the approximation of the right and possible use of that right to a better life in an urban environment.
The Municipality of Stip through solid cooperation will hope for successful activities and results and development of the Municipality in a modern Urban community for better life of the citizens.
Based on all our analyzes and communications, we planned to hold a final meeting with the Roma from Stip and to send a message about the right to urban living.
Within the presentation of the report in Stip, hot meals and hygiene packages were distributed to about 25 families, ie about 100 people from socially vulnerable categories of citizens from Stip. The presentation included information related to housing and the rights of citizens to live in urban areas, ie issues related to the legal security of property, living conditions to be provided for adequate housing, issues related to the adoption of urban planning documentation and other details related to the housing issue.
The project activities are supported by the Open Society Foundation – Macedonia.
