The level of awareness of the recognition and protection against discrimination is still low. A good part of the citizens are not even aware that they are directly or indirectly discriminated against, and there is mistrust in the institutions and authorities competent for sanctioning the perpetrators, that is, those who discriminate.

These are only part of the conclusions from the implementation of the project “Combbating Discrimination against Roma Children”, implemented by the National Roma Centrum from Kumanovo (NRC), in partnership with the Association for Research, Communication and Development, “Public”.

The goal of the project, funded by the European Union, is to promote the social integration of Roma children in society through effective protection of their basic human rights. The activities have been implemented for the past two years in the municipalities of Kumanovo, Kriva Palanka, Kicevo, Kocani, Shtip and Prilep.
