{"id":4083,"date":"2017-08-29T14:39:03","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T14:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationalromacentrum.org\/en\/?p=4083"},"modified":"2017-08-29T20:37:03","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T20:37:03","slug":"project-improving-the-participation-of-smaller-communities-at-local-level","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalromacentrum.org\/en\/news-and-events\/press-releases\/project-improving-the-participation-of-smaller-communities-at-local-level","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of the achievements on final press conference of the project team and the executive director"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Final report on the implemented activities of the project<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>National Roma Centrum &#8211; Kumanovo and the partner organization AVENA from Kocani, in the period from 01.04.2016 to 30.09.2017, implement the project &#8220;Improving participation of small(er) communities at the local level&#8221; with financial assistance from the EU Delegation Macedonia and INSOC.<\/p>\n<p>The implemented activities were directed to 5 municipalities (Kumanovo, Tetovo, Bitola, Prilep and Kocani) where the main goal was to establish mechanisms for increased participation of smaller communities at local level through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>encouraging regular consultations between CSOs and local authorities,<\/li>\n<li>monitoring of the decision making processes,<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening the capacities of local stakeholders to promote tolerance, cooperation and participation of smaller communities in decision-making, and<\/li>\n<li>to create mechanisms for increased influence of communities in the decision-making process at the local level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Results achieved within the project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10 round tables were held with representatives of the local self-government, representatives of the Commissions for Inter-Community Relations and local civil associations;<\/li>\n<li>Four quarterly meetings were held with representatives of the local self-government, representatives of the Commissions for Inter-ethnic Relations and local citizens&#8217; associations;<\/li>\n<li>An internet platform for receiving feedback from the citizens was prepared and 592questionnaires wereanalysed from citizens regarding their perception of participation in local policies and local life;<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring of 20 sessions of municipal councils;<\/li>\n<li>Final report with recommendations based on previouslydeer interviewing of 504 citizens and working meetings with 26 people, representatives of local authorities available on the website of the National Roma Centrum &#8211; Kumanovo;<\/li>\n<li>6 workshops on inter-cultural understanding and community rights, with representatives of local authorities, municipal councils and local organizations;<\/li>\n<li>Three 2-day trainings for representatives of local self-governments and local citizens&#8217; associations were held for a total of 79 participants from local stakeholders;<\/li>\n<li>Awarded sub-grants in the amount of 41,497 EUR to 7 local organizations for the purpose of strengthening their capacities by implementing project activities in line with the main objective of the Project;<\/li>\n<li>Prepared and submitted to the Municipal Authorities 5 Strategies with Action Plans and Programs for Implementation of the Strategies for Incentive of the Participation of Smaller Communities in each municipality individually, of which 2 were adopted by the Council of the Municipality of Tetovo and the Council of the Municipality of Prilep;<\/li>\n<li>An informative briefing on the participation of smaller communities in CICR and municipal councils;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contact for further information<\/p>\n<p>MihailGotovski &#8211; Project Manager<\/p>\n<p>National Roma Centrum &#8211; Kumanovo<\/p>\n<p>Ul.
