Over 150 parents Roma and other young people participated in the first training for fundamental rights, parenthood and gender issues that was held in Kumanovo, Shtip, Kochani, Veles, Prilep and Kichevo within the Social inclusion of Roma people and Roma returnees in Macedonia project which is financially supported by We effect.

What fundamental rights are, what documents every citizen of the Republic of Macedonia has to have, procedures to obtain basic documents, problems that people can face with, children’s rights, a right to child’s allowance and an allowance on various grounds as well as documents about legalization of illegal buildings are some of the questions and topics being discussed about with the participants in the trainings for fundamental rights coming from Roma communities in six municipalities that took place in Kumanovo.

The training attracted great interest among people in Roma settlements who had additional examples and cases which contributed to make the problems and questions clearer.

During the training, children were playing with toys in the play area within the Open nurseries in Kumanovo, Kochani and Shtip.

Next year, it will additionally be organized trainings of this type to make the Roma community stronger through practical knowledge on rights and duties.
